Aluminum, known for its corrosion resistance ability owing to the phenomenon of passiveness and the low density of metal is extracted from bauxite with (sp gravity – 2.5 – 3) and consists of 31 – 52% of Alumina (Avg – 41% ). There are two main processes involved.
- Bayer Process ( For Alumina refining)
- Hall Heroult Process
